Education should be more than just tests scores
Quality Education is the key to both human and economic development. In the 21st Century, education should be geared more to the individual than a cookie cutter approach. An engineer does not need the same education as a journalist who does not need the same as an electrician who does not need the same as a nurse. We need to let teachers teach. Education needs to serve the child not the bureaucrat.
Common Core is the opposite approach that the nations which lead education take. We need multiple tracks not one.
We need dollars to the classroom not the Department of Education. We should have Backoffice consolidation among school districts. Functions such as accounting, human resources and transportation management can be combined without the loss of local control and identity. Those dollars can support funding the math and reading specialists to which the state already committed.
